What we’re listening to this week:

Will: I’ve been on a serious Mix CD kick for the past month or so due to shitty radio options. While I used to like the Planet, I’ve found their nonstop repetition of the same top-40 alternative songs to be a bit annoying. That, and most of the music on there usually gets piped onto Sears-radio a few weeks later. And nothing is more annoying then hearing music played at Sears in places other then Sears. (Mostly because most of the music played at Sears is terrible to begin with.)

So I’ve been listening to the usual favorites: Mayday Parade, All Time Low, All American Rejects, etc. But even my numerous mix CD’s are starting to get old, so I think a trip to the Hastings’ dollar-special CD bin is needed. Nothing spices up a boring music collection like random bands you’ve never heard of (and I say that in a completely non-hipster way). Perhaps I’ll get lucky and find another Scapegoat Wax and/or The Elevator Drops album. Hmm…

JoshUA: Flogging Molly until my ears wished they were drunk. Which makes no sense, but it does. If you want particular songs, I’ve got two lists: Ones I Can Kinda Play on Guitar and Ones I’m Going to Play on Guitar. List one: Drunken Lullabies, Devil’s Dance Floor, and Float. List two: Seven Deadly Sins (It should be on the other one, but I can’t remember any of it right now), What’s Left of the Flag, The Worst Day Since Yesterday, and The Salty Dog. And then there’s Rocky Road to Dublin (both The Dubliners and Dropkick Murphys), and then Shipping Up to Boston and Johnny I Hardly Knew Ye. And I added the link because that video is surprisingly awesome, especially since there is no editing. Anyway, that’s mostly it – I’m trying to get the sound that my fellow future bandmates want, so yeah. Ireland ho!

Kelci: like bossman, i am on a mellow music binge. i recently downloaded the album called, “dark was the night” from itunes. I. LOVE. IT. it’s kinda sad at times, but there’s some cool songs on there by artists i love, such as bon iver, sufjan stevens, beirut, arcade fire, the books, yeasayer, andrew bird, and the white stripes. that last one was just to make sure you were paying attention. my friend jori is going to put music on my ipod for me sometime too, so i won’t be limited nearly as much. just because it’s the holiday season, doesn’t mean i can’t get back to my thuggin roots… i’ve been listening to Slim Shady and Dr. Dre all week. i have to keep reminding myself i’m white, and very blonde. and i can’t dance. or rap. enjoy.

Ashlynn: Lately I’ve been on a Death Cab for Cutie kick, and just this week I’ve gotten a few songs by The Decemberists including one called “16 Military Wives” that has been stuck in my head for the past three days. I downloaded some more Iron & Wine, and I’ve been bugging Travis to make me a mix CD full of Niki Minaj and Li’l Wayne to fuel my inner gangsta 😛 To top it off, a couple weeks ago I finally downloaded the Chicago soundtrack, which I’ve been meaning to do for a looooong time, and it is fan-tastic.

Spencer, Kayla, and Anna…  let us know what you’re listening to!  🙂
